Memorial Day Tournament - 4th Place!!!

What (I mean WET) a weekend! The Memorial Day Tournament started off with a great Friday Night!!! We won against both the Tipton Tigers and Mac Attack - all bats were workin'. Saturday was a little tough on us. We began with the Oklahoma Stix and finished in a tie...the tiebreaker went to the Stix. Then we re-gained some momentum against the Tipton Tigers but got the wind knocked out by the Inferno....tough day and tough batting! Sunday was a complete wash out, all games canceled due to rain, and we mean RAIN! Everything picked up again on Monday, with another game against the Mac Attack, once again - we won. Shelby knocked in a great home run! The KC Hotstix were next, the girls were in great spirits and really rallied back and forth with the Hotstix. In the end, we had some errors and they were too much for us. We went home with a 4th place tournament finish! GREAT JOB FIREBIRDS!

Cow Town Show Down - 2nd Place!!!

May 19th & 20th was the CowTown ShowDown in Basehor, Kansas. The girls arrived early Saturday and played hard!!! Starting with a game against the KC Jayhawks and Firebirds came out on top with a 3-0 score. Next, bring on the heat - Topeka Heat...all of the girls were on and we finished with a 15-3 score. Finally 'Lookouts' were trying to make a game of it, but the Firebirds proved to be too hot to handle with a score of 5-1.

Sunday looked to be the test...Firebirds 1st took out the Rage with a 5-0 win, then the KC Fusion with 8-1 win...then the 'Lightening' struck! Our girls were exhausted after a solid 2 days of back to back play. They faught hard, but just couldn't get the bats swingin'. We lost in the Championship with a score of 0-5.

All in all a great weekend with a Runner-Up in the tournament and a Runner-Up in the Dugout Decoration Competition! WAY TO GO FIREBIRDS!!!
